Strategy: The Nightmare Pilgrim/The Thing From the Stars

Note: The special item required for this fight is a flask that gives players a buff that mitigates The Pilgrim's ability "Mental Assault" which damages every person in the raid. Mental Assault is used about every 20-30 seconds and hits flasked players for approx 10-15% health. However, players who are not flasked will be hit by Mental Assault for 200k damage.

Raid Comp:

First of all this fight can not be done with more than 16 people

A stacking dot is applied to every person in the area. How many stacks the dot has is based on how many people are in the area.

With that being said it is not wise to do it with less than 16 people because the enrage timer is really tight at 6 minutes and 30 seconds

There are two bosses that need to be killed in this encounter

The Nightmare Pilgrim - an ethereal alien wielding an assault cannon
The Thing From the Stars - The Pilgrim's large beast-like pet

The bosses do not share a health bar.

This fight requires 3 Tanks 9 DPS and 4 Healers

2 Tanks will take The Thing and 1 Tank will be on the Pilgrim

Tanking:

Both bosses must be faced away from the raid.

The Thing places a stacking debuff on the Tank currently being targeted, the second Tank needs to taunt when this debuff reaches 2 stacks.

The Thing will randomly enrage and do increased damage. The current Tank taking the enrage MUST pop a defensive cooldown. If the debuff reaches 2 stacks during the enrage, the second Tank MUST pop their defensive cooldown before taunting the boss.

Once The Pilgrim is invulnerable at 7% the current Tank of The Thing must bring him on top of The Pilgrim until he is killed.

Healing:

Fight is very healing intensive. Constant raid damage being done because of debuff.

When The Thing enrages, healers need to prioritize The Thing's current Tank. (Much like Foreman Crusher's Frenzy)

At random times during the fight a select number of players will receive the debuff "Blood Mark" which is indicated by a white glowing animation on the player who has it. This debuff will cause damage to players DPSing either bosses. Tanks must be healed through it. The Tank who is currently not Tanking The Thing should stop attacking to avoid unnecessary damage. DPS players who have it should meet in the middle for group heals until it wears off. Lucky if Healer receives Blood Mark.

DPS:

All DPS must give everything they have into this fight to make the enrage timer.

The Pilgrim will place a slew of AoE attacks on the ground. These should not be stood in and must be avoided by all players.

The DPS priority is to bring down The Thing to 15% health then switch to The Pilgrim. At 7% The Pilgrim will become invulnerable. The DPS must wait for the tanks to bring The Thing on top of The Pilgrim. Once The Thing is in place it must be killed to remove The Pilgrim's shield. Once the shield is down, the Pilgrim will be killable.

Other Things:

After the boss dies it will grant the raid a "+50 to all main stats buff" for 5 hours and a "+200% to Mental Assault damage taken debuff" for 5 days to prevent farming the boss.

Since we are on a PvE server, we won't have to worry much about the enemy faction griefing us.

The only way people could grief us on this fight is if they blow 30 Comms on the flask and start damaging the boss to increase the DoT stacks. Otherwise if they don't have the flask, they will die quickly thus removing the DoT stack.

People who die during the fight can run back into the encounter from the med center. However, if the boss dies while someone is running back, they will not be able to get loot.

All the strategies for this fight I came up with myself while observing the Cali Killed Nox PTS kill video. There are no public written or video strategies of this fight.

If anyone else notices something that I missed while watching the video. Please bring it up in this thread.
